Chelsea’s midfielder Enzo Fernandez may be on his way out the door shortly, according to Arsenal icon Paul Merson.
Merson claims that after signing with Chelsea for a massive amount, the Argentina World Cup champion has one goal in mind: trophy glory.
You may recall that Fernandez broke the British record transfer fee when he signed with Chelsea for £107 million from Benfica on the last day of the winter transfer window.
After impressing in last year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 22-year-old was also linked to Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
Merson suggested that Fernandez would look to quit the west London club if they continue to struggle under manager Mauricio Pochettino, as he stated on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special show.
Merson said, “Enzo Fernandez is my main concern.” If this keeps up, I seriously doubt he’ll stick around. A footballer worth £100 million who also won the World Cup.
These guys aren’t interested in playing mediocre football. They’re flush with cash. They’re aiming for trophy victories. Trophy-taking is the ultimate goal. Now everyone gets paid very well.
