Adamawa state government plans to construct a new Yola flyover

Posted by

On Friday, the Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) gave the green light to build a flyover over Mubi Roundabout in Yola, the state capital.

During the first term of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Yola saw the construction of two more flyovers in 2021 and 2022.

The state government anticipates spending N9.2 billion on the new flyover.

Fintiri presided over Friday’s SEC meeting, when it was decided to spend N21.8 billion to build a new 20.8-kilometer super highway from a point called Welcome-to-Yola through Army Barracks Junction.

Shortly after the meeting in Government House, Yola, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, commissioner of information and strategy for Adamawa state, told newsmen that construction on the flyover and roadway would take 18 and 30 months, respectively.

She argued that the projects will improve the state’s economy and infrastructure once they were finished.

Kofulto further mentioned that a warehouse was cleared for building in Government House Yola by the council to stop the rampant looting of stored goods.

She revealed that Medugu Commercial and Construction Company was given N291 million to build a storage facility with a capacity of 7,800 metric tons for rice and other crops.
