Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was brought before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Tuesday, Emefiele made his way to the courthouse. Some EFCC officer escorted Emefiele, who was clad in traditional garb and a hat, into the courtroom. His production in court on Wednesday afternoon is in line with the ruling made on November 2.
While ruling on an ex-parte plea by Emefiele on November 2, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi ordered the EFCC to either release him unconditionally or produce him on November 6 so that the court may give him bail.
On November 6, when the matter was again brought up, Justice Adeniyi reaffirmed the ruling, but the EFCC did not release him or bring him to court. A large crowd has gathered in the courtroom to watch for the entrance of the judge and the start of the proceedings.
