Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, said after Monday night’s 1-0 victory over Wolves that he was lucky not to be called for a penalty.
The Red Devils won by a 1-0 score thanks to a second-half goal from Raphael Varane.
However, Erik ten Hag’s squad relied on good fortune in the last minutes at Old Trafford.
Even though Onana, making his first appearance for United, carelessly collided with Wolves substitute Sasa Kalajdzic in added time, he was not penalized.
Fans and commentators were stunned when referee Simon Hooper and VAR both determined there was no need for a penalty kick.
After the game, Onana said he wouldn’t have minded a penalty being given because of the collision.
His exact words were, “I made the decision and am responsible for everything, there was contact between two big guys.”
