Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, on how his team “caged” Osimhen

Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has revealed how his team thwarted Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match.

On game two, Ancelotti’s squad triumphed 3-2 at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

In the first half, Osimhen won the penalty that led to Napoli’s opening goal and also had a header that was palmed away by Kepa Arizzabalaga.

However, the 24-year-old was unable to score a goal.

In order to shut down the striker, the veteran coach revealed he assigned two of his players to do so.

“We wanted to be two against one with him (Osimhen), the central defenders did very well and didn’t give him any space behind them,” Ancelotti said during his postgame press conference. “Against Osimhen, it’s difficult not to suffer, especially on aerial balls, but we did well.”

The Nigerian played for Napoli last year and helped the team win the UEFA Champions League with five goals.

He is yet to score a goal for the Serie A champions this season, though.
