Posted by The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Academic Staff Union of the Universities (ASUU) in Wudil, Kano, has spoken out against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to dissolve the university’s Governing Council.
Dr. Aliyu Yusuf Ahmad, Chairman of the ASUU branch at the institution, and Dr. Mudasir Nasiru, Secretary, made a statement condemning the dissolution on Wednesday.
The union has complained that the University has been operating illegally without a Governing Council since its dissolution, as required by the Kano University Amended Law, 2017.
To prevent a complete shutdown of academic operations, the local chapter of ASUU has requested the governor to swiftly reconstitute the Governing Council.
The union also asked the governor to resolve all staff benefits disputes.
