The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has issued an appeal to all Nigerians to maintain their solidarity as the country moves forward on the path to prosperity.

The governor issued the call at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna, the site of the 63rd Independence Anniversary celebration.

The governor, who was represented at the ceremony by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, urged Nigerians to embrace a culture of unity at all times.

To paraphrase what he had to say: “It is only through peaceful living that Nigerians will be able to prosper and meet the yearnings and aspirations of the Nation in general.”

Bago also urged Nigerians to do their part for nation-building, saying that his government is conscious of the plight of its people and is toiling away around the clock to improve the situation.

In his own words, “We are appealing to Nigerlites not to lose hope in the present Government but should be resilient and remain prayerful for the success of the present administration.”

In their separate statements, both Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman and Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly Abdulmalik Muhammad acknowledged that despite the difficulties facing Nigeria, the country has achieved remarkable accomplishment.

They encouraged people in the state to keep faith in the government and its efforts to bring about the benefits of democracy.
