Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed’s plans to set a new world record for the longest cooking marathon were derailed when she suddenly needed medical attention.
Maliha had set out on her journey to break the record on November 15 and had been keeping her fans up to date on her progress, which stood at 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds at the time.
When she had a medical emergency, her attempt to surpass the 111-hour mark and beat Ireland’s Alan Fisher’s Guinness World Record took an unexpected turn.
A photo of Maliha unconscious on a stretcher, surrounded by medical staff, circulated online.
She made it clear that she was not going to let the unexpected event put an end to the cooking marathon.
“I have slain my enemies and raced marathons. Nothing can stop us now; onward and upward to victory!” she wrote.
