A video stating that officials from the Katsina State Police Command diverted medicines has gone viral on social media, but the command has asked Nigerians to reject the claims.
The police issued a statement through the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, explaining that the video is intentionally deceptive and made to damage their reputation.
After a thorough investigation, the sacks of rice seen in the video inside a police car were proven to have been intercepted and confiscated from criminals, as stated by ASP Sadiq. The cops immediately returned those who had fraudulently received an excessive amount of the palliatives to the distribution center.
He expressed regret that the video distorted the truth and discredited the efforts of the police who were present to ensure the safe distribution of palliatives at the occasion.
The Command recognized the public’s alarm about the video and urged people to be vigilant and analytical while viewing content online.
The police department reaffirmed its dedication to serving the people of the state with honesty and integrity, and it underlined the need of coming together to combat disinformation and build a stronger and more understanding society.
