Manager Steve Cooper of Nottingham Forest has challenged Taiwo Awoniyi to increase his goal total from the previous season.
In the season of 2022–2023, Awoniyi scored the most goals for Nottingham Forest.
The Tricky Trees’ Nigerian international scored 10 goals in 27 league games.
The 26-year-old has scored twice in as many Premier League appearances so far this year.
Cooper believes Awoniyi can contribute to his team’s success by potting more goals this year.
If he can’t, I really hope he can. What a pleasant thought! At Union Berlin, he was responsible for a lot of goals. That, at least, is the expectation. The plan is to do exactly that. That’s his obstacle to overcome. Cooper stated at a press conference, “The challenge for us coaches is to push him.”
Because of the nature of our business, there is a lot of one-on-one time with him and the other guys. T’s willingness to put in effort, take on new challenges, and advance is admirable.
On Saturday, the Reds’ Premier League schedule continues with a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
Last summer, Awoniyi moved to Forest from Union Berlin, a club in the Bundesliga.
