reschedule Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party (LP) vice presidential candidate for 2023, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
After Tinubu and Shettima resigned, Baba-Ahmed argued that Senate President Godswill Akpabio should be given the authority to hold a new presidential election.
On Monday, the LP candidate broadcast his campaign announcement on Arise Television after accompanying the Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to a global press conference in Abuja.
In response to Tinubu’s offer of cooperation, Baba-Ahmed insisted that Tinubu and Shettima were illegally installed as president and vice president during the 2023 election.
He said, “Can Tinubu and Shettima just resign and let the Senate President conduct another election?” after declaring that the LP would not work with what he called a “illegitimate government.” They were sworn in under false pretenses, and we refuse to cooperate with a government that is not legal. We won’t touch anything if it violates the Constitution.
In case you forgot, Obi made some serious accusations about the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ability to handle election concerns during that conference.
