Uvwie Local Government Area residents and drivers have complained about the poor condition of the East-West road near the Effurun roundabout in Delta State’s Ughelli.
They claimed to have spent hours traveling what should take no more than 30 minutes under ideal conditions from Effurun roundabout to Ughelli.
A driver named Solomon lamented to BANKPAWA that it had been more than a week since he had seen his Toyota Picnic, which was in for repairs. He went on to say that the car is his only means of support, and that they often go hungry. He spent over N35,000 on repairs for his car and is afraid of putting himself and his passengers back in harm’s way by taking it back out on the road.
To fix the road, the only option, according to another driver named Ejaeta, is to implore the President.
Layefa, a passenger who returned from Ughelli this morning, reported that he spent more than two hours stuck in traffic on the terrible route.
The federal government, he argued, should intervene to help the situation. Na pleading we dey. We can’t take much more of this heartache. Please, Mr. President Tinubu, assist us in fixing the road near the Effurun interchange.
Our reporter was out and about at 7:30 a.m. and reports that drivers and passengers alike are complaining about the condition of the axis of the road leading to Sapele/Benin City.
From Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, and Benin City, the capital of Edo State, the Effurun roundabout provides access to Warri and the surrounding area.
