Emmanuel Dennis’ transfer from Nottingham Forest to Istanbul Basaksehir of the Turkish Super Lig has been finalized.
Dennis went on loan to the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions for the rest of the season.
The agreement does not include a purchase option.
The 25-year-old arrived at Nottingham Forest from Watford but had trouble earning playing time last season.
The nine games he played in were all starts for the Nigerian national team under Steve Cooper.
Last year, Dennis scored two goals in 16 league games for the Reds.
This season, he has been totally shut out.
The dynamic forward was overjoyed with the outcome of the play.
“My first encounter with Başakşehir was when Club Brugge played against them in qualification for the Champions League,” Dennis said in an interview with the club’s official website.
After the game, I got to talking with Emmanuel Adebayor, my older brother, who also played, and he encouraged me to visit Istanbul.
I hung out with him all day at his place after meeting him here. He filled me up on the club’s background and history.
It was only in my brain until I got word from my agent not too long ago that the club was interested in signing me.
When asked why he chose to play for this team, he responded, “It’s a nice place, I’m familiar with them because I’ve been to the stadium, I’ve played against them, I’ve had few friends who played here, and they always tell me good stories about the people, the club, so I decided to come here.”
