Yusuf Bichi, the DSS director general, founded the agency to further democratic governance, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria and to maintain the country’s ongoing engagement with its citizens.
According to a statement released by the DSS DPRSC
, Peter Afunanya, a spokesman for the secret police, was nominated by Bichi to lead the Directorate.
The announcement claims that Afunanya’s new position began on September 26, 2023.
Peter Nnochirionye Afunanya, Ph.D., fsi, the former Public Relations Officer, has been promoted to the position of Supervisory Director and will now oversee all communications for the Service.
The effective date of the appointment is September 26, 2023.
“The Service has commended its Director General, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi CFR, fwc, for the initiative to undertake the expansion and particularly for appointing Afunanya to pilot the Directorate,” the statement read.
