Two alleged drug traffickers have been apprehended in Yobe State by agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The Principal Staff Officer for Media and Advocacy at the Command, Ramatu SB, made the notification of arrest and seizure public on Thursday to members of the press.
One of the suspects, 26-year-old Gapchiya Modu, was found in possession of 80 blocks of dried weed weighing 60kg, which police believe to be cannabis sativa.
Along Kano-Nguru Road, he was stopped and searched by law enforcement.
Suleiman Mohammed, 37, was also taken into custody for having five kilograms of cannabis sativa on their person.
The anti-drug agency announced, “On the 5th of September, 2023, a team of strike force officers of NDLEA Damaturu, while on stop and search operation intercepted one Suleiman Mohammed, 37 years old “M” for being in possession of 5 Blocks of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa weghting 5.0kg.”
Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Ret. ), the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, has lately urged the agency’s officers and men to continue their efforts until drug demand and supply have been reduced to an absolute minimum throughout the country.
