This weekend’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup games will all observe a minute of silence before kickoff.

The African Football Confederation (Afcon) said that the gesture will be made in memory of those who perished in the recent earthquake in Morocco and the floods in Libya.

President of the CAF, Patrice Motsepe, sent his sympathies and hoped for a swift recovery for the people.

According to SAGEFE, hundreds of lives were lost and thousands of people were displaced as a result of the disaster.

Rivers United, champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League in the past, will face Etoile Filante, a team from Burkina Faso, on Sunday at the Stade Municipal Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

On Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Benin, another Nigerian participant, Bendel Insurance, will take on RS Berkene, a team that has already won the Confederation Cup.
