His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the governor of Enugu State, has ordered that all employees of the state’s local governments be biometrically verified.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Thursday contained the instruction.

The verification committee, according to Onyia, would be inaugurated at the Government House in Enugu on Friday, December 1, 2023.

On that same Friday, December 1, 2023, the verification exercise will begin and run until the end of February 20, 2024. The verification committee will visit any of the 17 local governments in the state on a random basis, any working day of the week.

To verify and capture biometric information, employees are required to have their appointment letters and schedules on hand. Anyone found to have violated their job terms or who is chronically absent from work will be fired from their position with the government.

“Furthermore, ssg@enugustate.gov.ng is the designated email address for all local governments to submit their attendance lists for the previous week on Wednesdays, as per this announcement.”

He made the declaration.
