All political appointees from Governor Seyi Makinde’s first term in office have been ordered by the Oyo State Government to immediately return all state-issued vehicles.
The state administration requested the cars be returned no later than the 25th of August, 2023.
The directive was sent to the former aides on Friday by the state administration in a statement signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the Secretary to the State administration.
According to the statement, the Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Judges, State Government Secretary, Chief of Staff, Head of Service, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Accountant-General, Auditors-General, and Surveyor-General are all exempt from the directive.
Gifted automobiles at the governor’s discretion are also excluded, according to the statement.
In addition, it was stated that MDA schedule officers should be presented with documentary evidence from officials who claim to have been granted official vehicles.
In a statement released to BANKPAWA, Governor Sulaimon Olanrewaju’s Chief Press Secretary Sulaimon Olanrewaju demanded that all unofficial drivers surrender all government vehicles by August 25th, 2023.
“Schedule officers in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the State Public/Civil Service are mandated to recover official vehicles that have been taken away without due authorisation, if not returned on or before Friday, 25th August, 2023.”
