Abdulahi Ganduje, chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has urged those who were elected to the Kano House of Assembly on the APC ticket to cooperate with the state’s governor, Abba Yusuf.
He said that all Kano residents, regardless of party affiliation, enjoy the benefits of democracy and should cooperate with the governor to bring them about.
According to the BANKPAWA the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) won the governorship of Kano in the 2023 general election.
When 14 members of the Kano State House of Assembly paid Ganduje a courtesy visit at the party secretariat in Abuja on Monday, he told them they had a responsibility to help advance the state of Kano.
It’s been 25 years since some of you were together, yet when I look at most of you, I see myself,” he added. Some of you were elected to the assembly, but then you lost your seats and came back seven years later. There has been a revolving door between us. That’s why I feel comfortable referring to some of you as “veterans of democracy.” It comes as no surprise that you have come to pay me a congratulatory visit.
Ganduje likewise praised the legislators for their role in fostering democracy in Kano State.
The state governor may belong to a different political party, but he is wrong about one thing: politics is about the betterment of the people. Please work with the state governor for the betterment of Kano State, regardless of your political affiliation.
That does not disqualify you from serving in the State Assembly. We would continue to cooperate in order to bring an APC administration to Kano State. The people of Kano State deserve the benefits of democracy more than anything.
“I want you to work peacefully with the government in Kano state, and I assure you that we will provide you with all encouragement so that we get more and more members of the State Assembly, and also until we get a governor of our party.”
