NDDC Scholarship
NDDC was established in 2000 to promote the Niger Delta’s rapid, even, and tolerable development into a state that is economically successful, socially sound, ecologically regenerative, and politically friendly. This is the goal of the NDDC postgraduate scholarships project.
The NDDC launched a Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship program as part of our Human Resource Development Initiatives to provide people from the Delta state area with appropriate training and skills for influential participation in the current administration’s regional content program as well as compete internationally in various professional fields.
The scheme is open to suitably qualified applicants who hold relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s degrees from recognized universities in the following professional disciplines:
- Geosciences
- Information Technology
- Agricultural Sciences
- Engineering
- Environmental Sciences
- Law
- Medicine
- Architecture
- Hospitality Management
- Management Sciences
NDDC Scholarship Requirement
The following factors determine eligibility for NDDC scholarships:
- Applicants must be Delta State residents who have resided in Nigeria for at least five years.
- As of January 1, 2023, the applicant must be between the ages of 17 and 23 (inclusive).
- The applicant must be a full-time student at any accredited university in Nigeria and must not have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) for their first-degree program and have not previously received an NDDC scholarship.
- The applicant must have and be willing to maintain a good academic record.
- Applicants must be able to show proof of secondary school graduation or its equivalent (General Certificate of Education (GCE); National Examination Council (NECO); West African Examination Council) (WAEC)
- Anyone interested in applying must be willing to submit to a background check and sign the NDDC Confidentiality Agreement.
- All applicants must be willing to take part in the orientation program as well as a brief interview.
- Applicants must be willing to sign and abide by the NDDC’s Contract of Service.
- The applicant must not have a criminal record and must attach certified copies of their police clearance certificates to their applications.
- Applicants must not be known members of any political party and must not have been involved in any criminal or political activity.
- Applicants must be in good physical condition.
How to Apply For NDDC Scholarship
Applications must be submitted online at the NDDC Portal and include the following attachments:
A recent passport photo
- Letter of Identification from the Local Government
- Admission letter to a reputable overseas university for postgraduate studies. Degrees from reputable universities are required.
- Certificate of Discharge/Exemption from NYSC.
- Applicants who successfully complete the application form will be assigned a registration number.
- For future reference, print a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgment.
- All applicants who have been shortlisted will be listed on the NDDC website

NDDC Scholarship Deadline
The NDDC scholarship application form is always available from October 1 to December 31. As a result, there is no set opening date or deadline. All applications, however, must be submitted online by the 31st of each month.
NOTE: The Commission (NDDC) will not communicate with candidates who were not shortlisted for the Computer Based Test (CBT), were not invited for an oral interview, or were unsuccessful during the oral interviews.
Candidates from Oil Producing Hosts/Communities/Local Government Areas will be given preference if they meet the approved cut-off mark. The Commission will ensure that beneficiaries in each state receive an equitable distribution of courses.
Deferment, change of institution, and change, of course, are all prohibited.
