I have killed 67 kidnappers and rescued 29 hostages in Bauchi, says Governor Bala

On Monday, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed revealed that security forces in the region of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area had killed 60 alleged kidnappers and freed 29 captives.

During a visit of sympathy to the Lere community after a recent bandit attack, Mohammed made this statement.

He claimed the accomplishment was the result of teamwork between law enforcement, vigilantes, and game hunters.

What you’ve done exemplifies chivalry, character, perseverance, and community engagement, and I came to congratulate and thank you on behalf of the government and the people of Bauchi State.

I also want to thank the Commissioner of Police and the other security services for maintaining order and authority during the drill, and he promised his continued backing.

The governor expressed concern over rising crime rates and restated his administration’s pledge to ensure the safety of all residents and their possessions.

For local law enforcement, Mohammed provided 30 motorcycles and N10 million.

The state’s top cop, Mr. Awwal Muhammad, has pledged greater cooperation between law enforcement and other security groups in the state.

Alhaji Jamilu Bawa, Ward Head of the Lere community, also spoke, praising the act and saying that the vigilante will help root out kidnappers and other criminals.
