The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) detained an INEC officer during the governorship election in Imo State because he was in possession of a sizable sum of money.
The Owerri Municipal LGA’s Polling Unit 005 at Township Primary School in Ikenegbu 1 was where the INEC employees were apprehended.

An unnamed source allegedly offered the official the money to buy their vote.
Nonetheless, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sent officers to watch the off-cycle elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa.
According to BANKPAWA, party agents in Lokoja offered voters financial incentives in Kogi State’s off-cycle election.
According to reports, the agents in question distributed cash to voters roughly 500 meters away from the voting places in exchange for their votes.
