According to information compiled by BANKPAWA the gunmen stormed a number of banks in Otukpo at around 3 p.m. on Friday, firing shots in random directions.
Witness Sunday Abah told BANKPAWA that the gunmen had been active for several hours before anyone from the security forces arrived.
The city of Otukpo has been overrun by armed bandits. They are not picking and choosing who to target.
The robbers “have been here for more than three hours,” he stated, referring to the Zenith Bank.
At the time this article was written, attempts to contact DSP Catherine Anene Sewuese, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, were unsuccessful.
