The administration of Kwara State has issued a warning to contractors working on water projects in the state, asking them not to cut corners or cause delays by using low-quality materials.
During a meeting with contractors and consultants working on various water projects in the state, Commissioner for Water Resources Usman Yunusa Lade issued the warning.
Lade said, “Any contractor(s) discovered not to deliver good work or where the job done does not commensurate with the money received will not receive additional pay, and we are going to blacklist them and publish their names accordingly.” This comes after the ministry announced plans to form a committee to evaluate the quality and standard of work done at the various sites of ongoing projects in the state.
The commissioner also announced that “business as usual” would be ending, saying that “contractors must be ready to deliver quality jobs within the stipulated time frame and in accordance with the contract agreement.”
Al-Hassan Limited and Dabarak Nigeria Limited responded on behalf of their employees and promised not to let down the state government after receiving such high praise.
They said they will go to work on it immediately.
