At the Flag-off of Exercise Still Waters III in Rivers State, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja admonished the 6 Division for violating the norms of conduct governing the performance of their activities.
In addition, General Lagbaja ordered the army to hunt down economic saboteurs and eliminate them entirely.
Director of Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said in a statement that Lagbaja issued the charge to the troops on Friday in Port Harcourt, during his first official working visit to the 6 Division Area of Responsibility.
Lagbaja restated the federal government’s primary objectives as economic revival, security, and infrastructure improvement.
He reminded the military that its members’ loyalty, discipline, and dedication to their constitutional duties were essential to preserving the nation’s oil sector, which is essential to the country’s economic recovery.
He emphasized that citizens’ primary allegiance should be to Nigeria’s government and the country’s constitution.
Throughout the duration of Exercise Still Waters III, he stressed, he wants to hear nothing but good things about the 6 Division’s troops.
According to the statement, General Lagbaja commissioned landmark projects and crucial operational platforms during his trip to the Niger Delta.
He explained that the recently acquired fleet of ten gunboats is just the beginning, as plans call for the acquisition of even additional platforms to bolster the NA’s ability to operate in the riverine realm.
In a later visit to the 6 Division Step Up Headquarters in Ahoada, the COAS emphasized the value of working together across departments, according to the statement.
