Posted by Chibueze Amechi, a 23-year-old jobless man, was remanded on Thursday after being charged with kidnapping and defiling a 16-year-old girl by an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The defendant, whose whereabouts were not given, is being charged with kidnapping and desecration.
The prosecution, represented by Mrs. Olawunmi Osibanjo, said that the crimes were perpetrated by Amechi on July 24 at approximately 6:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Road, Araromi area of Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Osibanjo said that Amechi took the 16-year-old out of her parents’ care and held her captive at his home for a month.
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, Sections 269 and 137, the prosecution added that the accused had carnal knowledge of the girl.
Mrs. A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu, the Chief Magistrate, did not hear the defendant’s plea but nonetheless ordered his custody to the Kirikiri prison.
She issued an order to consult with the State Director of Public Prosecutions before proceeding further.
Olagbegi-Adelabu postponed the case’s mention until October 12.
