The reason why AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli did not start Samuel Chukwueze against Bologna on Monday in Serie A play has been revealed.
The Rooseneri opened their season with a 2-0 win at Bologna, in which Chukwueze saw action for 17 minutes.
The goals were scored by former Chelsea talents Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud.
Last month, Chukwueze moved from Villarreal of LaLiga to AC Milan.
Pioli said the Nigerian international, along with several of the club’s new arrivals, are not yet ready to start games.
We’re taking on the most prepared team possible, one that’s been practicing together regularly since July. I don’t think it will take long for Chukwueze, Okafor, and Musah to be at the same level as their teammates,” Pioli said to DAZN.
On Saturday, AC Milan will play host to Torino in a league matchup.
