McAteer criticizes Man Utd, saying they have “lost their identity.”

Manchester United have ‘lost their identity,’ according to former Liverpool player Jason McAteer, who has criticized the team for their lackluster performance thus far in the UEFA Champions League.

On Wednesday, Manchester United’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich ended in a 4-3 defeat.

The Premier League heavyweights were defeated by Thomas Tuchel’s squad at the Allianz Arena, with goals from Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane, and Mathys Tel.

Since the start of the 2023-2024 season, Manchester United has lost four of their first six games, including three in a row.

The wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho are not now available to play for the club due to their poor performances and off-field concerns at Old Trafford.

McAteer, on the other hand, claims that no side ever again has to be afraid of Man United since they are not the dominant force they once were.

What else have they lost with their identity?” McAteer said on beIN SPORTS.

“Manchester United are no longer feared. When they used to visit Anfield, the atmosphere was always “we are in a game today, we could lose this.”

We’d never think that way about any team, but back in the ’90s, Manchester United ruled the roost. They were once terrified, but now they aren’t.

In the words of one commenter, “their identity is gone and I think sometimes Man United swan around as if it is still there as if they can stroll into someone’s backyard and take it.”
