Messi and Argentina’s success in the 2022 World Cup was fixed, according to Van Gaal

Louis van Gaal, a former Dutch head coach, has suggested that Lionel Messi will finally win the World Cup in 2022 because the tournament would be fixed in Qatar.

At Lusail Stadium, Messi scored twice to help his team overcome France 4-2.

Before that, the 36-year-old was instrumental in their quarterfinal victory over the Netherlands (then coached by Louis van Gaal). Messi scored during regulation and then led his team to a 4-3 shootout victory.

Van Gaal, who resigned soon after, thinks the competition was fixed so that Messi could get the championship he had never before been able to claim.

“When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it was all a premeditated game,” he said to the Dutch outlet NOS.
