Posted by Popular chef Damilola Adeparusi, better known by his stage name Chef Dammy, is the target of a N22 million defamation lawsuit filed by a religious leader known as Prophet Adegoke Jeremiah, nicknamed Billion Dollars Prophet.
According to BANKPAWA memory, Chef Dammy recently blamed Billion Dollars Prophet on social media, claiming he should pay for her safety.
She said that for months following her cook-a-thon, Billion Dollars Prophet had been threatening, cursing, and abusing her.
The minister has filed a defamation lawsuit against the cook.
In a letter dated October 23, 2023, and signed by his attorneys at Bisayo Sule & Co Legal Practitioners, the Prophet ordered that the libelous remark be retracted from social media and two major national publications, as well as that N22 million be paid to him as damages.
Among the letter’s demands was that “you retract the libelous statement on all the social media, in particular your Instagram page, and two (2) widely read national dailies” due to the “incalculable damage you have done to the good reputation of our client.”
As an added stipulation, we’ve set a price of (Twenty Million Naira Only).
Damages for defamation committed against our client amount to N20,000,000.00.
You are hereby notified that you have seven (7)calendar days from the date of delivery of this letter on you, the date of service included, to comply with our demand.
In the event of a breach, we will not be bashful about taking legal action.
