Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis allegedly made disparaging remarks about player Victor Osimhen, but the club has disputed the claims.
According to Mediaset’s report, if the Nigerian fails to sign a new deal, De Laurentiis will sell him.
The club and the Nigerian international’s representative have announced they would begin contract extension talks in the coming weeks.
There was never a bad word said about Victor by President de Laurentiis. A club statement read, “Osimhen has informed the club that he has changed his mind after previously verbally agreeing to sign a new contract.”
We’re hoping this is merely a brief pause for reflection. We plan to talk to his agency, Calenda, about his future plans in the coming weeks.
Those reports of tension between Napoli and Osimhen are completely unfounded.
The 24-year-old is out for the time being due to a thigh injury sustained while on international duty last weekend.
In 10 games for Rudi Garcia’s squad this season, he has scored six goals.
