New details emerge about the assassination of Yusuf Mubaarak in Ilorin

There is mounting evidence that Yusuf Mubaarak, whose body was discovered dead in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, over the weekend, was the innocent victim of a cult brawl.

Nasarawa State University, Keffi student Mubaarak, 27, was reported missing on Wednesday night and found deceased over the weekend.

His body was discovered along Unity Road in Ilorin city on Saturday.

The dead “was unlucky to have been caught up in a shooting spree by members of rival cult groups in the state capital,” according to an anonymous source quoted by BANKPAWA

When they spotted him riding shotgun on Okada’s motorcycle, they automatically labeled him as a new convert to the cult.

“The chap who carried him had his head slashed with an axe and he is now in the hospital,” the source said.

The informant claims that Mubaarak “was shot from behind his head and the bullet emerged in front from his eye.”

The cops were alerted about the situation and started monitoring his phone activity. The phone’s location was eventually determined to be on the Ilorin-Ogbomoso route; the situation was elevated; and all police formations were made aware of his disappearance.

State security services have been instructed by Governor Abdulrahmam Abdulrazaq to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice.

In a statement released on Saturday, the governor’s chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said, “No resources should be spared to get justice for Mubaarak and his family, we charge security agencies to cast their nets widely as possible to answer all pending questions around his painful death.”

After Yusuf Mubaarak was reported missing last Wednesday, his body was located today, and former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki expressed his sadness in a message of sympathy.

Another bright young life has been snuffed out by the senseless violence of evildoers.

We must always remain sensitive to the human costs of insecurity. Such tragedies must forever serve as a wake-up call about the critical need to improve national and state-level security.

While praying for the deceased’s loved ones to find solace, he continued, “May our authorities be empowered to conduct a comprehensive investigation of this case and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
