Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has threatened to shut down the country if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not address the economic crisis within the next three months.
He said that people no longer wait for organized groups like the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to organize demonstrations but instead “will storm the streets in their numbers to cry out against the government.”
Ayodele claimed the country would be at a “standstill” if the president doesn’t find a permanent solution to the economic suffering being faced by residents in a statement released by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho.
He pleaded with the president to see his message not as a threat but as divine guidance to protect the country.
”If the economic misery does not end in the next three months, Nigerians would push the country to a total shutdown with large demonstrations and disorderliness,” Ayodele claims.
“This won’t be the traditional protest that NLC or TUC organizes; instead, people will take to the streets in massive numbers to demonstrate their disapproval on a personal level, bringing the entire country to a halt for days.
Because the economic difficulties will wreck the country and harm the rich and the poor equally, President Tinubu should do all necessary to fix the economy. People will start to demonstrate, and businesses will lose employees.
It is not a threat to say that if changes aren’t made, Nigeria’s economy will collapse in three months. What I see is not pleasant, so the president should take this as a message from on high.
