The heads of Anambra State’s unions have praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts to ease the impact of the fuel subsidy cut.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) all issued statements of gratitude to the governor for expanding the scope of the relief effort beyond just government employees.
Over 300,000 households across the state would receive rice, and workers will see a raise of N12,000 in their salary from September through December, he said last week.
On behalf of the workforce and pensioners in Anambra State, we use this medium to express our profound appreciation to Mr. Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on the twelve thousand naira (N12,000.00) per month cash award given to workers both active and retired.
You should be commended for the inclusive aspect of your palliative care, which benefits people from all walks of life in Anambra—those with jobs, those without, those who shop at the market, those who are sick or expecting, those who go to school, those who work in the arts and transportation industries.
The labor unions also praised the governor for re-hiring former employees of the Anambra-owned National Light, which had just shut down.
Equally laudable is the fact that more than 70 employees at a national light newspaper have been absorbed. We greatly appreciate your willingness to work with labor unions and your dedication to addressing the many issues facing California’s workforce. We commit to working with your administration to put Anambra state on the fast track to development,” it said.
