Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has claimed that the DSS has been blocking him from receiving visits.
Kanu stated the DSS’s actions were illegal because they went against a court order that allowed him to have visitors.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s attorney, made the revelation on Monday following a routine visit to the DSS facility in Abuja.
According to a statement released by Ejiofor, contempt procedures have been initiated against DSS Director General Yusuf Bichi for the denial made by Kanu’s attorney Mike Ozekhome.
“Recently, the personnel of the SSS have extended their acts of lawlessness by denying Onyendu access to visitors of his choice, in clear violation of a subsisting court order,” the statement reads in part.
“However, our savvy Lead Counsel — Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN — has sprung into action, initiating contempt proceedings against the Director General of the SSS in an effort to compel immediate compliance with all the Court Orders that the SSS is currently violating with impunity.”
