An accident on Friday claimed the lives of two people traveling between Abeokuta and Lagos in Ogun State, not far from the Ota tollgate.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), one person was hurt in the collision.

There were four vehicles involved in the accident, according to Florence Okpe, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ogun. These included a white Volvo trailer with registration number T-14223LA, a yellow Volkswagen marked KRD132XX, and two Bajaj motorcycles with registration numbers LAR178VL and PKA873VS. The incident occurred at 5:11 a.m.

There were a total of three people participating; two adult males and one adult female.

There was one male adult hurt, and two adults, one male and one female, were confirmed dead, Okpe said.

According to information obtained by BANKPAWA the truck driver’s illegal overtaking of the motorcycles and subsequent high speed caused a collision with one of the bikes, resulting in a fatality.

According to Okpe, this also caused a collision between a Volkswagen and another motorcycle.

The victims’ bodies, she claimed, had been sent to the morgue at Ifo General Hospital.

Okpe said that Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of the Ogun FRSC, had warned drivers to always drive defensively.

While expressing sympathy for the victims’ loved ones, he urged drivers to obey the set speed limit at all times.
