The Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has honored Nigerian-American artist David Adeleke, nicknamed Davido,’s contribution to entertainment in Atlanta.

After the OBO singer headlined the A.W.A.Y. Festival at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on November 18, the mayor and city council proclaimed it “Davido Day” in his honor.

The Mayor of Lagos congratulated Davido on becoming a global icon in the music industry in a birthday message sent to the artist on November 21, 2023.

Atlanta’s citizens appreciate all you’ve done as a successful musician, entrepreneur, humanitarian, and civic leader. You’ve earned a staggering amount of honors over the course of your career, and you’re using that prominence to do good in neighborhoods across the United States and Africa.

An earlier statement from the Atlanta City Council read, “Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta.”

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has also recognized Davido for his contributions to the community.

The Board of Commissioners in Fulton County, Georgia, has officially declared November 21 as “Davido Appreciation Day.”

The Board of Commissioners for Fulton County, Georgia, issued the following proclamation on November 21, 2023: “Be it resolved, that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognizes David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023, ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Georgia.”
