The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke has lied in a place of worship.
On Wednesday, the party issued a statement attributed to its leader, Tajudeen Lawal, in which it accused Adeleke of taking credit for work done by the previous administration.
Lawal claimed in the statement that the governor, who attended the 16th Harvest Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at Love of Christ Generation Church, C & S, Victoria Island, Lagos, along with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, unabashedly recited the accomplishments of his predecessor, former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, some of which were completed before his administration took office.
Adeleke, the PDP governor, was praised by the elder statesman, Obasanjo, who said that he was impressed by Adeleke’s ability to combine active public duty with dance.
Worryingly, the figurehead governor lied about his inactive and aimless government constructing “super overhead bridges to ease connectivity,” adding to the situation.
It’s unfortunate that Adeleke was swept away by the praise from the outgoing president when he knows full well that the former leader misunderstood him and that the only thing for which he deserves praise is his dancing rather than his leadership.
Adeleke “obtained under false pretense what he neither earned nor deserved in a desperate attempt to score political points,” as Lawal put it. “Given the misleading projection Adeleke made of himself in the house of God,” Lawal stated.
Sunday Bisi, chairman of the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that Adeleke’s performance has become a nightmare for the APC in the state.
The APC’s attempt to minimize the governor’s accomplishments in the state was another target of his ire.
The Osun PDP chairman said in a statement that the APC’s denials don’t change the facts of what the Adeleke administration has accomplished.
“Sooko Lawal will be remembered as a politician who fought the truth even when it was staring him in the face.
By publicly questioning the lines of achievement of Governor Adeleke in the last 10 months, he took his well-known predilection for bending facts to a new low.
Sooko Lawal and the APC’s claim that Governor Adeleke isn’t deserving of credit for finishing the 10-kilometer Osogbo-Ikirun dual carriage road is, at best, ludicrous. The contractor working on the project acknowledged that without Governor Adeleke’s pragmatic leadership, the road might have been abandoned like so many others during the Oyetola administration, despite Sooko Lawal’s misleading claims to the contrary.
Bisi said, “While we sympathize with the APC, we must warn that it would be making a grievous mistake to think it can hoodwink the people with lies and irresponsible posture that seems to define its strategy lately.”
