Jose Enrique, a former Liverpool defender, has predicted that Manchester United will fire manager Erik ten Hag before they fire Chelsea’s Maurizio Pochettino.
You may remember that since Ten Hag took over as manager of Man United last summer, the Red Devils have won the Carabao Cup, their first major trophy in six years.
The team he coached at Ajax, Manchester United, reached the FA Cup final and finished in the Premier League’s top four for automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League for the current season.
Two of Manchester United’s first four Premier League games this season were losses, to Arsenal and Tottenham. This has put early pressure on Ten Hag.
The Dutchman has also been called out for his actions away from the field, such as his recent public spat with winger Jadon Sancho.
“I don’t think things are going to end well for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United,” Enrique said to Grosvenor Sport.
“I admired the way he handled things last season, but I don’t understand why he turned the entire locker room on Jadon Sancho this season.
Although I don’t see Ten Hag getting fired this season, I do see him getting fired before the likes of Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea in the future.
