Rob Holding, speaking of two former Arsenal teammates, says, “They’re leaders.”

Rob Holding, a former Arsenal colleague and defender, has said that Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny are the two players he most aspires to be like at Crystal Palace.

Having joined Crystal Palace this year after leaving Arsenal, Holding has expressed a desire to serve as a role model for the younger Eagles’ players much as Mertesacker and Koscielny did for him.

The 28-year-old moved from North London’s Emirates Stadium to Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park on the final day of the transfer window.

Some of the greats and noteworthy club captains that Holding played alongside during his tenure at Arsenal were Granit Xhaka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Martin Odegaard.

They’ve got quite a youthful team at Palace, they’ve got some young boys coming through,” Holding said to talkSPORT, “and I’ve got a lot of experience, 28 years old now.”

When I first stepped foot into the Arsenal locker room, you had guys like Mertesacker and Koscielny, and they’re just natural leaders.

To paraphrase, “If I can take any bits that I got from them and pass them onto the lads that are a bit younger at Palace now, then I can do that.”
