Sagamu cultists, a member of the House of Representatives, and six others are caught in the DSS’s crackdown.
On Wednesday, security personnel in Ogun State located six suspected cultists hiding out in the official house of a member of the state House of Assembly, who were wanted in connection with the violence that broke out in Sagamu over the weekend.
Member of parliament for Sagamu State Constituency (1), Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, was detained on suspicion of harboring the criminals.
After receiving a tip, a team of security agents conducted a sting operation and apprehended the suspects at the lawmaker’s office.
Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade were reportedly among those detained along with Damilare Bello Mohammed, also known as DRE.
They are currently being questioned by DSS agents.
According to reliable sources, the suspects’ stash of weaponry included many firearms.
Remember that back in February this year, a violent demonstration broke out in Sagamu over the CBN’s decision to redesign the naira, and that Hon. Bello was detained for allegedly being behind it.
Angry protesters destroyed roughly 10 banks and other public buildings.
