After Calvin Bassey’s performance was criticized in Fulham’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, the team’s manager, Marco Silva, came to the defender’s defense.
After the loss at the Tottenham Stadium, many people placed the blame on Bassey.
Silva opted to start the Nigerian international in his usual right center-back position.
The Whites gave up two goals because of the poor play of their central defender, who had a tough game overall.
Silva, however, has cleared Bassey of responsibility for the loss.
“Tottenham pressed really strong and more on Calvin,” Silva said after the game.
We made the error of putting a left-footed central defender on the right side of the defense, and they took advantage of it.
To put it another way, “we spoke at half-time that the solution for Bassey has to be completely different, the position of our midfield has to be completely different for him to have a solution.”
