The arrest of individuals believed to be affiliated with the Supreme Vikings confraternity (SVC) has been verified by Jonathan Towuru, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police for Zone Six in Calabar.
He claimed that the cultists were stopped by a team led by ACP Emeka Onyekaba.
X-Squad, led by ACP Emeka Onyekaba, “intercepted one Peter God’swill Edet “m” 23 years and one Ekemini David Umoh “m” 25 years all of No. 7 Peter Uboh Street, Abak road Uyo, on a motorcycle with two locally made pistols and a live cartridge,” according to a statement signed by the zonal PRO, SP Nelson Okpabi.
Okpabi stated that the suspects were detained when they were returning from the funeral of one of their own, referred to as “Aro Holy,” in Nsit Ubiom, Akwa Ibom State.
The accused allegedly admitted during questioning that they were SVC members, as stated in the statement.
One Samuel, whose other identities are unknown, is said to have given the suspects weapons and told them to carry them to the Ekom Imam intersection in Uyo.
When the investigation is complete, the individuals will be arraigned in court, the statement said.
