Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (aka Mohbad), a rising star in the Nigerian music industry, died under mysterious circumstances, and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has called on the police to investigate.
According to a statement released by his media adviser Yinka Oyebode, the president believes the country owes the deceased man’s family at least justice. This, he says, can be achieved by conducting a full investigation into the events leading up to the man’s death and the subsequent revelations.
On Tuesday, Governor Oyebanji spoke as a parade for the late musician was planned to take place in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
He lamented Mohbad’s untimely passing at the height of his career, calling him a gifted vocalist who, at age 27, had already carved out a position for himself in the entertainment world with multiple successful songs to his credit.
The Governor of Ekiti State expressed his sympathies to the late singer’s loved ones and called on the Nigeria Police to conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Our hearts go out to Mohbad’s loved ones and all of his admirers. A comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death is warranted, and we share their anguish at this difficult time,” the statement continued.
