The Coalition of Civil Society Groups has urged the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, to release the police investigation report into the suspected murder of Victor Obafaite and Jimoh Asimi.
According to NAN, both Obafaite and Asimi were killed in the chaos that followed the 2007 election for the House of Representatives in Kabba/Bunu LGA.
Mr Wisdom Chinedu, the convener, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take action.
Chinedu requested that the IG-P direct the appropriate agencies to release their inquiry findings to the public.
He stressed the importance of investigating the deaths of the two, and he questioned the credibility of the previous committee.
Chinedu emphasized the need for justice, saying that the attack’s accused mastermind should be apprehended and tried for murder without delay.
Chinedu insisted on legal repercussions for any and all parties involved in the 2007 chaos.
He mentioned that there are still those who can testify against the criminals.
Chinedu stressed the critical nature of these steps by referencing violent threats made during the ongoing governorship election campaign, where it has been alleged that recognized cultists have been hired to disrupt the poll.
The democratic progress made since 1999, he said, must be protected.
