The Napoli manager was not pleased with Osimhen’s performance against Lazio

In the wake of Napoli’s loss to Lazio over the weekend, manager Rudi Garcia voiced his displeasure with forward Victor Osimhen’s performance.

The defending Serie A champions were defeated for the first time this season by Maurizio Sarri’s squad, 2-1, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

After scoring three times in each of the Partenopei’s previous two league games, Osimhen went scoreless for the first time this season.

While Garcia admitted that Osimhen played well in the first half, he said that the Nigerian fell short in the second.

While the first half was relatively quiet in terms of scoring chances for Osimhen, the second half saw a marked decline in his performance.

He’s a constant problem for the other team’s defense and opens up opportunities for the rest of the team. We were aggressive, ambitious, and open to new prospects. But in the second half, none of my players were up to the team’s standards,” Garcia was cited as saying by Tutto Napoli.

Osimhen will likely spend this weekend away from home on Nigerian national team business.

After the international break, Napoli will play their next Serie A match away at Genoa.
