Three hostages have been freed thanks to the efforts of the Katsina police.
Men armed with AK-47s abducted them on Saturday in Gogalo, a community in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, revealed the discovery in a statement on Monday.
Jibia’s DPO reportedly reacted quickly to the emergency call, forming a search and rescue team that worked tirelessly through the night to find the missing people on Sunday.
At around 6:00 a.m., the police unit spotted the possible kidnappers, setting off a heated firefight. Despite the fierceness of the gun battle, the authorities were able to save the lives of all three kidnapped victims.
According to ASP Sadiq, an investigation into the event is ongoing, and officials are dedicated to bringing the fugitive individuals to justice.
The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, issued a statement commending the heroic actions of the engaged officers and urging the public to remain watchful and report any suspicious activity immediately. He emphasized the need for immediate and firm measures to be taken to reduce criminal activity in the state.
Some of the bandits got away with gunshot wounds; therefore, CP Musa asked locals to report anyone who seemed suspicious as soon as possible.
