Tinubu and Wike praised for FCT reforms

Political figures in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, have praised the reforms being led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.

After meeting on Thursday in Abuja, they issued a statement that was made public to BANKPAWA

Indigenous Coalition for Good Governance in FCT members have come together to proclaim the Tinubu administration’s early successes as noteworthy.

Coalition leader and ex-Representative Hon. Lazarus Zaka Gaza has heaped praise on the Tinubu government for its many accomplishments thus far.

As a native son, Gaza claimed to be up-to-date on everything happening in the FCT and praised the present administration for its “many bold initiatives” aimed at elevating Washington, DC’s status as the nation’s capital.

“I speak today with great sense of delight over recent events in my constituency, which is the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” he stated.

“As a true native son, I’ve had the good fortune to travel the world and gain a global perspective on the role and purpose of government.

On May 29, 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in as President of Nigeria. Since then, he has wasted little time getting down to business.

During his time working for the FCTA, Gaza served as the Director of Human Resources Management, and he has since hailed Tinubu as “the leader that FCT has been yearning for.”

A vivid indication of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda is “His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,” he continued.

Let me be clear, Mr. President: the people of the FCT are not merely appreciative; we are ecstatically delighted by this brilliant move to put the FCT on par with other states in terms of the benefits provided by the FCT Civil Service commission.

This will be remembered as the decisive moment that finally allowed FCT natives and permanent residents to reach their full potential.

That we, as a nation, can finally advance to the level of Permanent Secretaries and reap the rewards of that promotion is what this means.

He also spoke highly of Mr. President’s decision to remove the FCT from the Treasury Single Account, calling it “a class act that shows the special place Mr. President has placed FCT in the grand scheme of things in Nigeria.”

He was pleased with the Women Affairs Secretariat, saying it proved a commitment to enabling women in the FCT and providing them with a genuine opportunity to reach their full potential.

He went on to say, “As a consummate politician who can boast of comradeship with the President in the National Assembly during the botched Third Republic and the first member House of Reps from Abuja 1991-1993), I can emphasize that these achievements of our President have done a lot to tremendously reposition our great party for outstanding victories in coming elections in FCT.”

This is happening because Mr. President’s high ambitions for the people are starting to become visible and tangible to them.

Where I think Mr. President has really hit a home run is with the selection of His Excellency Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

To put it mildly, Wike is the archetypal case of a round peg in a square hole.

“His antecedents as a former governor of Rivers State and the awesome results he has produced just after a few months as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory have more than any other confirmed his status as a phenomenal performer.”

Gaza also praised Wike for beginning to repair roads in the city proper and surrounding areas, as well as for immediately addressing insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.

All FCT natives and residents were urged to rally behind the President and FCT Minister.
