Professor Hippolite Amadi was given The Nigeria Prize for Science in 2023, and President Bola Tinubu has joined the rest of Nigeria and the academic and scientific communities in congratulating him.
The Advisory Board of The Nigeria Prize for Science recognized Prof. Amadi as the 2023 laureate for his groundbreaking research on respiratory technology to save the lives of newborn newborns on Thursday, as previously reported by BANKPAWA
His groundbreaking solar-powered creation is a three-in-one non-invasive newborn ventilator, oxygen delivery blender, and oxygen splitter.
Professor Amadi, a pioneer in the field of neonatal respiratory technology and a respected professor at both Imo State University and Imperial College London, received an award for his innovative work in this area.
President Tinubu praised the solar-powered newborn ventilator developed by a Nigerian scientist, noting with great satisfaction that its usage has already lowered expenses for neonatal care and saved lives in hospitals that have embraced its use.
The President praised Professor Amadi for using his wealth of knowledge in medical engineering and technology, with an emphasis on low-cost healthcare delivery systems, for the benefit of Nigerians and mankind at large.
The President also thanked Nigeria LNG Limited, which presented Professor Amadi with a $100,000 prize for developing the novel approach to newborn care.
He emphasized that the government of Nigeria’s willingness to work with the business sector and academics to boost Nigeria’s healthcare, education, technology, and innovation sectors is reflected in this gesture.
