U.S. citizens are being warned to stay away from major hotels in Nigeria

The United States government has issued a travel advisory instructing its citizens in Nigeria to stay away from all five-star hotels.

The United States has reported an increase in threats against large hotels in the country’s major urban centers.

This alert was issued by the United States on November 3 as part of an emergency message to its residents.

U.S. citizens were warned to be on their guard in high-profile hotels, to keep a low profile, and to familiarize themselves with the travel advisory for Nigeria before making any reservations.

This warning states,

There is an increased threat to prominent hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities, according to credible evidence known to the United States government.

According to the advice, the security services in Nigeria are making preparations to deal with the danger.

“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat,” it said.

If any American citizens were to need assistance, the warning listed their respective locations and phone numbers for the US embassy in Abuja and the US consulate in Lagos.
